Alien: Earth Episode 3 – What is the truth behind Wendy’s secret?

Wendy and Joe’s scary face-off in Alien: Earth, Boy Cavalier’s dangerous plan revealed.

Alien: Earth Episode 3 – What is happening to Wendy?

Metamorphosis has given the Alien universe a new, slightly more creepy direction.

This episode, which came on FX and Hulu, mixed action, mystery and a little mind-boggling sci-fi and left a big question – what is the future of Wendy?

Xenomorph Attack – We survived, but how?

Wendy (Sydney Chandler) comes right in front of the Xenomorph to save her brother Joe (Alex Lawther).

Joe is found trapped in a cocoon inside the truck, but the alien is not seen anywhere… until it attacks from above.

Wendy punches the alien, acid blood starts gushing out, but the creature is still alive.

In the final face-off, Wendy distracts the alien with a hook, who escapes, and after a fierce fight, Wendy decapitates him.

Both fall unconscious after victory – a cinematic pause that increases the tension.

Morrow’s Riddle – “When is a machine not a machine?”

Morrow, a cyborg who has returned after 65 years, asks the hybrids this strange question.

This is not just a question of technology; it is a question of identity – when a human body becomes a machine, does its soul also come along with it?

In the words of creator Noah Hawley, this thing reaches the soul.

Meaning, becoming a machine does not mean just metal and wires, but can also mean the essence of humanity… or maybe not.

Boy Kavalier’s Dangerous Experiment

On the Neverland research island, Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin) executes a dangerous plan – he removes one of Joe’s lungs and puts a small Xenomorph in it.

Imagine if this lung is put back, then Joe himself will become a walking alien host, without knowing.

This twist is clearly a ticking time bomb for future episodes.

Wendy and Xenomorph’s Psychic Link

At the end of the episode, when the alien egg is being cut in the lab, Wendy hears a high-pitched sound which makes her fall to the ground.

This hint was given earlier as well – Wendy can “hear” these creatures, unlike other hybrids.

Hawley has confirmed that this is a rare connection that only Wendy has.

Last shot of the scene – Wendy falls on the Prodigy people, Metallica’s Wherever I May Roam plays – a heavy metal full stop, which makes the hype sky-high for the next episode.

In the end:

Metamorphosis not only showed an alien fight, but also explored a dangerous grey zone between identity, humanity and survival.

Wendy’s psychic link and Joe’s infected lung – both together are going to create a lot of explosions in the next episodes.
