Andy Richter opens up about the jokes he’s endured about his weight and his journey on Dancing with the Stars.

“So Many Ways to Call Someone Fat?”
Andy Richter has been the target of jokes about his weight for decades. The 59-year-old comedian recently spoke candidly about it.
He jokingly said, “I didn’t know there were so many ways to call someone ‘fat’ – ‘chubby,’ ‘roly-poly.’ It felt terrible to hear that.”
He says people don’t notice his blue eyes or strong teeth; they only focus on his weight.
That Famous Chair-Breaking Incident
One of Andy’s most memorable (and embarrassing) moments was in 2015 when he broke a sofa live on TV during the ‘Late Night Show.’
Host Conan O’Brien immediately joked, “That’s the first time a sofa has broken in 22 years!”
Andy revealed that it had happened to him before, but no one noticed because it was during a commercial break.
Unable to Afford Weight Loss Medication
This year, Andy revealed that he considered weight-loss injection medications, but there’s a major obstacle.
His insurance company doesn’t cover it, and the medications are so expensive that it’s currently impossible for him.
This is despite having a condition like sleep apnea, where weight loss could be beneficial.
The Dance Show That Changed His Life
Participating in ‘Dancing with the Stars’ was a big decision for Andy. He admits that initially, he didn’t want to do it at all. But then he thought it would force him to be active.
The show motivated him to go to the gym and do cardio, which benefited him greatly, both physically and mentally. This journey proves that his identity is far more than just his weight.
