Aubrey Plaza, Amy Poehler discuss ‘Hunting Wives’ on SNL, true friendship, and a journey through grief.

Leslie Knope and April Ludgate, now ‘Horny Republican Wives’?
Hey, if you’re a fan of Parks and Recreation, here’s some great news!
Far away from Pawnee, Indiana, the duo of Leslie Knope, also known as Amy Poehler, and April Ludgate, also known as Aubrey Plaza, recently created a stir on an episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL).
In fact, the two starred together in a pre-recorded parody.
This parody was based on the fictional show The Hunting Wives, which the show’s narrator described as a “lesbian, horny Republican drama.”
Just the name is enough to make you laugh!
The New Girl Among the ‘Horny Wives’
This satirical Season 2 trailer first shows Chloe Fineman returning from prison as the main character, Sophie O’Neil.
Then the camera pans to reveal our beloved Amy Poehler!
She appears as socialite Margo Banks, who pulls down her dress to flash her breasts in a hilarious scene.
But the real hit came when the narrator introduced the “new girl” to the group.
Aubrey Plaza entered to the cheers of the audience. “Hey, ladies!
I’m new, I just moved from California,” Aubrey said as she arrived.
Everything was going well until Sophie taught them how to make mimosas, and the rest of the friends joined in the fun.
When the “lesbian” ruined everything!
But the punchline of this comedy came when Aubrey Plaza’s character suddenly revealed that she had a girlfriend, not a boyfriend!
Shocked, all the “horny wives” pulled out their hunting rifles, screamed, “Lesbian!”
and fled the scene. This scene showcases how Aubrey and Amy seamlessly participated in a political and social satire.
This isn’t the first time these two have created magic on SNL.
Last year, in January 2023, when Aubrey hosted SNL for the first time, Poehler reprised her role as Leslie Knope, while Aubrey returned to the role of April.
A Real Friendship Behind the Camera
The two share a great on-screen chemistry, but their friendship runs deep behind the scenes as well.
Recently, on Amy Poehler’s podcast, Good Hang, Aubrey Plaza opened up about her journey through grief and sorrow after the death of her husband, Jeff Baena.
Poehler asked her longtime friend, “On behalf of all the people who think they know you, and who really know you, how are you feeling today?”
Aubrey answered very honestly that, at this moment, she’s happy to be with Poehler.
She said, “Overall, I’m here and working. I’m very grateful to be moving forward in the world. I think I’m doing okay, but yeah, it’s a daily battle.”
This heartwarming moment shows how true and strong their friendship is, even behind the glitz and glamour of Hollywood!
