Dreama told Woman’s World that people often ask her, “Was Bob the same at home?
Did he keep falling out of hammocks there, too?” The truth was quite the opposite. According to Dreama, Bob was a very intelligent man.
He wasn’t dimwitted like Gilligan, but rather a well-read and very kind-hearted person.
It’s hard for people to believe that the man who acted so foolishly on screen was so intelligent in real life.
First Sight Connection
Their love story was no less than a movie scene. Dreama and Bob met during a play in Florida in the late 1970s.
Dreama says it wasn’t just “love at first sight,” but a strong attraction.
As soon as they held hands, they both felt like they were meant to be. Their relationship lasted a full 30 years.
Dreama also jokingly said that their marriage wasn’t a “72-day Kardashian marriage,” but rather a strong bond.
Career Takeoff
Even before getting Gilligan’s Island, Bob had already made a name for himself on TV.
He played ‘Maynard G. Krebs’ in The Many Lives of Dobie Gillis, which proved to be his breakout role.
But Sherwood Schwartz chose him for the role of ‘Gilligan,’ and the rest is history.
A Memorable Journey
It’s sad to note that in September 2005, at the age of 70, Bob Denver passed away due to complications from cancer treatment.
