Why did Bobby Lee disappear from SATC?

The truth behind the removal of minority cast members – Bobby Lee reveals the reason for his departure from “And Just Like That.”

Abrupt departure

Bobby Lee, who played Carrie Bradshaw’s podcast co-host Jackie Nee for two seasons, recently explained why he wasn’t invited back for the third season of the “Sex and the City” follow-up series.

In a candid conversation with Entertainment Weekly at Comic-Con, Lee shared his thoughts.

A case of changing direction?

“Some of the woke elements of the show they removed, and I think I was a part of that,” Lee revealed, hinting that the show’s casting was intentionally altered.

He explained that Sara Ramirez and other cast members also didn’t return, adding, “They tried to cast minorities, and — I don’t know. I never watched the show.”

Not just Bobby

It’s worth mentioning that Lee wasn’t the only one who left between seasons.

The show also said goodbye to Sara Ramirez (Che Diaz) and Karen Pittman (Nya Wallace).

With Carrie’s podcast storyline ending at the end of Season 2, her entire work team disappeared from the story, including the characters played by Ivan Hernandez and Ali Stroker.

Only love for SJP

Despite his exit, Lee insisted he had no ill feelings toward the production.

“Sarah Jessica Parker is the nicest person I’ve ever met.

She made me feel very comfortable,” he warmly shared. “I like everybody there.

It was fun. I never have bad blood with anybody. I’m nice. I’m on time.”

Unique casting from the start

Interestingly, Lee admitted he was initially surprised to be cast. “I don’t even know why they asked,” he admitted.

“And I was so scared to do it. Because it wasn’t really my brand. But I did it.

I pushed through the fear.” ## A turning point in his life

Lee previously shared that working on the show became a pivotal moment in his personal journey.

He recalled coming to the set “drunk and drunk” and struggling to understand the script, which eventually led him to a journey of detoxification.

New creative horizons

Now, Lee is focusing on new projects, including his upcoming graphic novel “Deadweight.”

The story features a character that is based on him – a Korean man working in a Chinese restaurant in the 70s who discovers a mysterious sword that gives him special powers.

“Deadweight” is set to release in early 2026.
