The episode started off beautifully, with Danny opening champagne with Baez in their new (and furnitureless!) apartment.

The joy of reuniting after nearly a month was palpable, but where does police duty allow one to lose their cool?

Before the celebrations could even begin, Danny had to rush to work, exposing his newfound “work-life balance.”

The perk of being an ex-partner

The good thing is that Baez is not only Danny’s girlfriend, but also his ex-partner.

When Danny told his new Boston partner, Lena Silver, that Baez understands his compulsions, he was right.

Instead of getting angry, Baez made a surprise visit to the police station with coffee and even helped solve the case.

Danny’s move to Boston was necessary for his son Sean, but it’s now becoming clear that adjusting between Brooklyn and Boston has become an emotional rollercoaster for both of them.

The Battle of Boston vs. New York

Even their rescheduled lunch date wasn’t acceptable to fate. During the conversation, Baez admitted that leaving Brooklyn for Boston wasn’t easy for him.

An emotional moment occurred when Baez said she had to go back to New York and was “begging” Danny to come back.

Fans must have been heartbroken by this, as the pain of long-distance was clearly visible in her eyes. It seemed as if this distance was taking a toll on their relationship.
