How did Bryan Cranston beat Ron Howard, Martin Scorsese in The Studio to win an Emmy? Find out!

Griffin Mill’s blast
Bryan Cranston, who plays Continental Studios CEO Griffin Mill in Apple TV+’s comedy The Studio, surprised everyone by picking up the 2025 Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.
Cranston himself was not present at the ceremony in Los Angeles, so Gwendoline Christie accepted the award on his behalf.
Humor, mushroom chocolate and high-moment
Griffin Mill’s entry brought a challenge to Seth Rogen’s Matt Remick.
Matt, who is a surviving custodian of classic films, was put on a shiny chair by Griffin.
But the real fun came when Griffin cornered Matt during the season while he was on a mushroom chocolate trip.
On one hand, serious film industry squabbles, on the other, Griffin’s laughter—this is the mix that opened the doors to the Emmy.
Tough competition, but Cranston wins
The category also featured Jon Bernthal (The Bear), Dave Franco, Ron Howard, Anthony Mackie and Martin Scorsese (The Studio).
Jon Bernthal gave a sensitive performance as Michael “Mikey” Berzatto, Dave Franco played a funny exaggerated copy of himself, Ron Howard showed his own agitation, Anthony Mackie made a quiet but impressive cameo, and Martin Scorsese presented the pen-drama of making a film on Kool-Aid Man.
Among all these, Cranston won with his sensational brilliance as Griffin Mill.
Sha-Win feat
This was Cranston’s 16th Emmy nomination.
He had already won the Outstanding Lead Actor award four times as Walter White in Breaking Bad and Outstanding Drama Series twice as the producer of the same show.
This time the Guest Actor title became an example of the versatility and constant experimentation of his career.
Family Joy
Cranston recently spoke to PEOPLE and praised his daughter Taylor Dearden, who has made a great debut in The Pit.
Cranston didn’t forget to thank his family for winning the Emmy—the father’s pride was evident in his eyes.
Looking Ahead
Griffin Mill’s hilarious, thrilling and drug-infused entry into the world of The Studio marked a new chapter.
Now the question is—will Matt and Griffin’s bromance lead to more comic moments next season?
