How did Clare Mosley celebrate the first anniversary of Michael Mosley’s death at Symi after a year?

A journey of memories
When the news of Michael Mosley‘s death broke, it was as if the world had stopped.
The departure of a man who spoke heartily about health on TV was now the victim of an unknown accident.
A year later, Clare Bailey Mosley and her children chose the same path where Michael was last seen—in the hills of the Greek island of Symi, but this time to embrace the pain.
A state of shock
“I don’t understand,” Clare says. One day before, Michael was smiling in front of her, and the next moment, he was gone.
The shock is still as fresh as ever.
There is no question of blaming anyone, because the accident was just a coincidence—there is no one to blame.
An unwanted accident
Officials say Michael slipped and fell due to heat exhaustion.
His body got stuck on the path he had taken when he returned.
Everyone searched for him for four days, and the mayor of Symi found him.
In Clare’s words, “It’s a relief to be here—no one is guilty, no one is looking for revenge.”
Family’s helplessness
Clare saw the same island again with Alex (35), Jack (33), Dan (31) and Kate (26).
The whole family stood there, shattered. “The part where we found it was very heavy,” she says, “but sitting quietly in the monastery in the evening is heart-warming.”
New intentions
It was out of grief that Clare founded the Michael Mosley Memorial Research Fund.
She dreams of starting a research fellowship on metabolic health at King’s College London.
Michael’s legacy will now help improve the health of others.
The way forward
Clare is not in a hurry to meet a counselor yet. “When I feel it is becoming difficult to handle, then I will talk to you.”
She says, “Grief is a different feeling—sometimes I don’t understand it, but life goes on.”
Hope Ahead
Days without Michael are strange, but Clare and her children remain each other’s strength.
The accident did not break them, but taught them to stand together.
These memories, this love, are the biggest light for their journey ahead.
