How did John A. Pickens survive prostate cancer? Find out!

We’ve won the battle
Actor John A. Pickens, who starred in the blockbuster film “Coyote Ugly,” has won another major battle today—the battle against cancer.
He has lent his voice to a new PSA campaign, educating people that the sooner cancer is detected, the sooner it can be overcome.
One in eight men will get this cancer
John said in a video, “One in eight men will face prostate cancer in their lifetime.”
But did you know? This risk is even higher for men in the Black community. Their probability increases manyfold.
But there’s no need to worry! John says, “If this cancer is detected early, it is treatable.”
There are no visible symptoms
This is a bit scary, but it’s true. John explains that prostate cancer doesn’t show any symptoms at first.
The disease spreads internally without the person even realizing it. That’s why it’s so important to see a doctor and get screened.
I’m living proof of that
John himself is a living proof. He says that early detection saved his life.
His message is clear: “If you are Black, or if anyone in your family has had this cancer before, talk to your doctor about screening by age 40.”
So take some time today for your health. Because of the courage of people like John A.
