Darcey changed her look for Georgi’s family, but was it enough?

Darcey faced a fashion dilemma while preparing to visit Georgi’s family in Bulgaria.

Determined to tone down her usually bold look, she went shopping for more conservative outfits that respected Bulgarian culture.

“I’m scared, nervous and anxious,” Darcey admitted about the upcoming trip.

The pressure to make a good impression was weighing on her.

Fashion Intervention

Her Bulgarian friend Roxy intervened with tough love during the shopping trip.

When Darcey showed off a black jumpsuit she thought was appropriate, Roxy didn’t hold back her opinion.

“You have to earn their respect,” Roxy warned, “or else they’ll send you back to the US.”

Roxy suggested that Darcey tone down everything — her nails, her eyelashes, her entire look.

Though reluctant, Darcey agreed to the compromise.

Eyelash Compromise

The next day, Darcey had shorter eyelashes applied, feeling happy with her “make-under” efforts.

“I hope it’s enough for Georgi and his family because I love myself and I’ll just compromise that much,” she said. “If Georgi keeps pressuring, it will affect our relationship.”

Packing Problems

Despite her efforts, tensions erupted while packing for the trip. Georgi was not impressed with Darcey’s outfit choice.

“Your chest is out,” he complained about Darcey’s airplane outfit.

Darcey defended herself, pointing to her white fur coat and new shorter eyelashes as proving she had toned down her look “a lot.”

Cultural Concerns

Georgi worried that her family would judge Darcey and her too. “You don’t care about this trip, and that’s why I’m upset,” she told him.

He expressed concern that people in Bulgaria might think of her as a “prostitute” based on her outfit, calling her choices “disrespectful.”

Making peace

Despite the argument, the couple managed to resolve the situation before their flight.

“I want you to care,” Georgi said.

“I care!” Darcey insisted and said “I love you” in Bulgarian.

As they boarded their plane, Darcey acknowledged how important this trip was to her husband.

“I want to give love,” she explained. “I’m a giver and want them to feel my love, that I care about their son, that I’ve always had his back.”
