Devon Walker pokes fun at fans’ reaction to leaving SNL.

Man, it feels like we died
When comedian Devon Walker left the show this week after completing his three-season journey on SNL, fans reacted fiercely on social media.
Devon reposted a user on Instagram and jokingly wrote, “Y’all acting like we died lol—we’re just doing other jobs.”
His witty response proved that change doesn’t need to be dramatized, just the right perspective.
Jobs = Small Marriages
Walker also shared a note in which he wrote that working in this industry is like “small marriages.”
Some last long, some are short-lived, but while they last, you have to keep them all to the fullest.
Over three years, there were occasional toxic moments, but he and his team together created a “small family”—this family also included friends like Gary and Alex.
Heartfelt words of co-stars
Apart from Devon, Emil Wakim, Michael Longfellow and Heidi Gardner also announced their departure from SNL.
Emil said after one season that getting the call was like a “gut punch”, but still thanked him.
Michael described three seasons as the “best experience of life”, while Heidi has not yet given any official statement.
It is clear from this that every artist’s quit-off brings its own story.
Lorne Michaels’ big plan
SNL creator Lorne Michaels had already hinted that there would be a “cast shakeup” after the 50th season.
He believed that the artists who came together for the 50th celebration had to help the show maintain focus in the future as well.
As a result, some familiar faces will not be featured in the new season.
Next up: Japan and prestige drama
Devon’s list of next adventures is long—”I’m going to Japan and I want to come back and work in a prestige drama, and that’s a dream come true with Julianne Moore.”
His strong determination shows that change doesn’t scare him; it challenges him.
The 51st season of Saturday Night Live premieres on October 4 on NBC and Peacock.
