Drew Barrymore created a hilarious moment on her show that turned into a game of phone tag with her ex-boyfriend, Luke Wilson.
While reminiscing about their 1998 film ‘Home Fries’ with filmmaker Vince Gilligan, Drew decided to call Luke live on air. The moment unfolded in front of a live studio audience.
The Call Went to Voicemail!
The plan was to talk to Luke, but the call didn’t connect, and she had to leave a voicemail. Drew said in the message, “We’re talking about you and sending you love.
Can you believe it’s been 27 years since ‘Home Fries’?” She jokingly added, “This isn’t going exactly as planned.”
She sent Luke her love in the message, saying she was thinking of him with Vince Gilligan.
Luke Called Back After the Break!
But the story didn’t end there. After a commercial break, Luke Wilson called back! He claimed he was busy with household chores.
Luke congratulated Vince Gilligan on his incredible work on shows like ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul’.
He said, “It’s absolutely incredible what you’ve done since ‘Home Fries’.” Gilligan responded shyly, “Oh, God bless you, I’m blushing!”

The conversation brought back fond memories. Luke shared a funny anecdote from the film’s shooting, when he and his co-star Jake Busey shone a flashlight on a train, which turned out to be a federal offense!
Drew also recalled a story and asked Luke, “Do you remember when I got arrested with you for public urination?” Hearing all this, it seems like their old days must have been quite adventurous!
