Elaine Hendrix was injured on DWTS and hospitalized. Learn how she prepared for her return.

Elaine Hendrix’s tumultuous journey
The Halloween episode of “Dancing with the Stars” was a dream come true for Elaine Hendrix, but an injury changed everything.
She suffered a rib injury during rehearsal, forcing her to be hospitalized and unable to appear in the live show.
Friends’ support and an emotional moment
As soon as the news spread, Elaine’s best friend, Lisa Ann Walter, rushed to the hospital. Her dance partner, Alan Bersten, was also visibly distraught.
Alan showed a video of their final rehearsal on the live show, and the outpouring of love from the judges, cast, and fans became Elaine’s greatest strength.
“Will my journey end on this note?”
Lying on her hospital bed, both Elaine and Lisa were most worried about whether she would be able to continue on the show.
Elaine says emotionally, “I was afraid I’d have to leave the show like this. When we found out we were safe, we both laughed and cried.”
the Spirit of Fighting
Doctors diagnosed her with a muscle strain or tear in her ribs, but no fracture. After just two days of rest, Elaine was back in the rehearsal room.
She says, “Now I know the limit of pain. I’m 1000% determined not to go through that again.”
Announcement of Return
Thanking her fans, Elaine says the audience’s appreciation for her hard work, costumes, and performance was the greatest gift.
Now, she’s ready to return to the dance floor on Tuesday, and her fight is stronger than ever.
