The SNL sketch the world forgot, but Seth Meyers didn’t!
Emma Stone and Seth Meyers took a trip down memory lane on Saturday Night Live (SNL).
On Seth’s late-night show, the two discussed a “digital short” that hardly anyone remembers.
“I Wish It Would Rain” – A Sketch That Flopped
Seth showed a photo during the show of Emma Stone wearing a ridiculously large prosthetic tail with Andy Samberg.
It was part of the 2013 sketch “I Wish It Would Rain.” Seth joked, “It’s not on anyone’s list of the top 200 digital shorts.”
Emma responded by saying that she herself hadn’t heard of the video since that night, as it was nearly 15 years ago!
Seth’s Love and the Audience’s Silence
Interestingly, Seth absolutely loved this sketch. He admitted that he thought it would become a hit like “Lazy Sunday,” but it didn’t.
In his words, “And then there was silence.” Meaning, the audience didn’t like it at all.
Seth defended Emma, saying that Emma wasn’t the reason the sketch didn’t work, but rather that she came into the show much later.
“Can you guys just forget about it?”
Emma laughed and appealed to the audience, “And will you guys just think about it once? Or never think about it at all?” She won everyone’s hearts with this statement.
The Secret of SNL’s ‘Five-Timers Club’
Emma Stone is part of SNL’s prestigious ‘Five-Timers Club.’ She was given a special jacket for her fifth time hosting the show.
But in a fun revelation, Emma revealed that she was surprised to learn that the jacket wasn’t actually given to her to keep! It was just a prop. Very few people know this unspoken SNL rule.
