The painful real-life stories of Full House stars Dave Coulier, John Stamos, and the rest of the cast.

The Pain Behind the Curtain
The popular 90s sitcom Full House is close to all of our hearts. The ‘Tanner family’ made us laugh a lot as children, but these stars have endured a lot of pain in real life.
After losing their partner Bob Saget in 2022, this ‘TV family’ continues to face significant health challenges, but their mutual love is what keeps them together.
Dave Coulier’s Battle with Cancer
The last few years have been incredibly difficult for Joey, the man who makes everyone laugh, Dave Coulier.
In November 2024, he was diagnosed with stage 3 lymphoma, which he overcame in March 2025.
Sadly, on December 2, 2025, he revealed that he has now been diagnosed with squamous carcinoma (a type of head and neck cancer).
Nevertheless, Dave maintains a positive attitude and encourages people to schedule regular checkups.
The Shadow of Addiction and Eating Disorders
The show’s handsome Uncle Jesse, aka John Stamos, openly revealed how he battled alcohol addiction.
He was greatly helped along this difficult journey by Jodie Sweetin, who herself had experienced the darkest phases of drug addiction.
Meanwhile, Candace Cameron Bure and Mary-Kate Olsen have both admitted to suffering from eating disorders at a young age.
Candace revealed that loneliness after the show ended pushed her toward bulimia.
The Real Life ‘Full House’ Family
The show’s bubbly Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) also suffered from severe postpartum depression.
Despite all these difficulties, what makes this cast special is the family-like relationships they share with one another.
Whether it’s cancer, depression, or addiction, they’ve always held each other’s hands. They’re a strong family, not just on screen, but in real life too.
