Glen Powell’s New Challenge

Hollywood’s charming star Glen Powell is bringing a real transformation this time, not just acting.

In his new Hulu series, Chad Powers plays a character who requires him to change his lifestyle.

Why did he have to give up alcohol?

Powell revealed that he had to completely give up alcohol during filming.

The reason was his heavy prosthetic mask. He jokingly said, “If I drank alcohol, my face would literally fall off.”

Meaning, both sweat and alcohol were a threat to the makeup.

Real Field, Real Players

This wasn’t green-screen football. Powell explained that he had to take the field with real professional players.

At one point, a 6’7″ and 350-pound player ran at him.

Powell laughs, “If a guy that big runs at that speed, you have to run.”

Atlanta Heat and Sweat

Shooting took place in the Atlanta heat. Powell admits to being a “sweater.”

His face would become drenched in sweat as soon as he laughed, which was a major challenge for the mask.

Nevertheless, the makeup team did a great job.

Fun with Steve Zahn

His co-star Steve Zahn also appears in the series.

During the interview, Zahn jokingly said, “You were on acid.”

To which Powell laughingly replied, “Yeah, just hard drugs… I’m kidding.”

Inspiration from Eli Manning

The show is inspired by a 2002 viral video of Eli Manning, in which he played a Penn State football player.

He surprised everyone by going undercover at tryouts.

Now, Eli and Peyton Manning themselves are executive producers of the series.

Powell’s Real Fun

Powell says he’s always enjoyed “playing pretend,” or getting into character.

Chad Powers is more than just a role for him, but a return to the world of fun with friends and college football.
