George Clooney reminisces about his time on Golden Girls, and what he said about Bea Arthur.

When Young George Clooney Played a Detective!
Today’s superstar George Clooney started his career on a completely different note. In 1987, he appeared in an episode of ‘Golden Girls’ as a young undercover detective, Bobby Hopkins.
He entered the house where four elderly women lived. Clooney’s character even ended up in the hospital after being shot while apprehending thieves! This role remains a funny memory for his fans even today.
“Bea Arthur Was the Funniest Person in the World”
Recently, on the show’s 40th anniversary, Clooney openly shared how memorable it was to work on that set.
He particularly praised Bea Arthur (who played Dorothy), saying, “She was the funniest person in the world.”
Clooney confessed that Bea made him laugh more than anyone else. He even said that Bea’s style was ‘filthy,’ meaning incredibly witty and unfiltered.
The Elderly Characters Had Tremendous Power!
Clooney also shared an interesting observation. He said that if these characters were played by women in their 30s, they wouldn’t be allowed to say the things they did on television.
But because they were elderly women, they had the freedom to say anything.
That’s why the show felt so authentic and hilarious. He even called Betty White a ‘Godsend.’
The Craze Continues Even After 40 Years!
‘Golden Girls’ still reigns in people’s hearts. A special show, ‘The Golden Girls: 40 Years of Laughter & Friendship,’ is being launched on its 40th anniversary, featuring stars like Kelly Ripa and Mario Lopez, in addition to Clooney.
This show, which ran for seven seasons, received 68 Emmy Award nominations during its run, which is a record in itself.
The show is still available to stream on Hulu and continues to be popular with new generations.
