James Gunn explains why Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller show is slow; know the reason and when will it come? Details

Latest update on James Gunn’s Amanda Waller series
James Gunn recently told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that he and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran are still working on Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller series.
Gunn, 59, said, “We’re working, let’s see what happens.”
He jokingly added that some projects have moved quickly, but the Waller show has been a bit slow.
Why isn’t the show being made fast?
Gunn made it clear that production never starts in the DCU before the script is finished.
“Quality is our first priority,” he wrote in a tweet. Keeping this line in mind, there have been constant writings and revisions for Amanda Waller, which have slowed down development.
Waiting for Viola Davis’ return
Viola Davis played Amanda Waller in 2016’s Suicide Squad and fans want to see her in the same role again.
James Gunn excitedly said, “I can’t wait for Viola to put her Waller pants back on.”
This comment shows that the series will have a very strong entry of the actress.
Difference between Peacemaker and Waller
Gunn also revealed that the second season of Peacemaker was released before the Waller show because “some shuffling was done for different reasons.”
Peacemaker simply had some modifications to the previous story and production started early.
On the other hand, new script discussions and writing rounds are going on for Waller.
Peter Safran’s experience
Peter Safran told The Hollywood Reporter in February that the Waller series has been “a very bumpy road.”
He said, “We tried a few times, but it just hasn’t landed yet.”
Proving that making a show based on blockbuster heroines is sometimes not as easy as it seems.
What’s next?
It’s unclear when the Amanda Waller show will get going. But Gunn said he also has projects like Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Lanterns starring Milly Alcock, Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler.
Those projects are in the works, so only time will tell when Waller will join the production lineup.
In the meantime, fans will continue to wait for Viola Davis’ character to rekindle the spark.
Regardless of when the series arrives, Waller’s next outing will be explosive.
