Jamie Lee Curtis calls plastic surgery “genocide”

Hollywood veteran actress Jamie Lee Curtis has recently attacked the plastic surgery industry.

Let’s know about her views, which are in the headlines these days.

“Wiping out a generation”

66-year-old Curtis compared plastic surgery to “genocide” in an interview with The Guardian.

She also showed big red plastic lips during the interview, which she described as a statement against cosmetic procedures.

She said, “I have long been raising my voice about the genocide of a generation of women by the cosmeceutical industrial complex, who have mutilated themselves.”

Question on words

When questioned on the use of the word “genocide”, the “Freakier Friday” actress defended her statement by calling it “accurate”.

She explained, “I’ve been using this word for a long time, and I use it specifically because it’s a strong word.

I believe we’ve wiped out a generation or two of the natural human look.”

AI filters too

Curtis also targeted not just plastic surgery, but AI filters as well. She believes people now want a “filter face”.

“I’m not putting filters on anymore. As soon as I put a filter on and you see the difference before and after, it’s hard to say: ‘Oh, he looks better.’ But what’s better? Better is fake.”

Shared her experience

Curtis also shared her personal experience. At the age of 25, she underwent plastic surgery after the cinematographer of her 1985 film “Perfect” made a negative comment about her eyes.

“He said, ‘Yeah, I’m not shooting him today. His eyes are swollen.’

I was 25. It was very embarrassing for him to say that. So as soon as the movie was over, I had plastic surgery.”

She added that she “immediately regretted it” and “has regretted it ever since.”

Cause of addiction

Curtis has previously revealed that plastic surgery led her to struggle with drug abuse.

“I got Vicodin and the cycle of addiction began,” she told The New Yorker in 2019.

“I became very hooked on a hot bath of an opiate… I was very quiet about it, very private. But it definitely became a dependency.”

Today, Jamie Lee Curtis is one of the most outspoken critics of beauty standards and cosmetic procedure culture in Hollywood.

She is currently promoting “Freakier Friday,” a sequel to her 2003 film with Lindsay Lohan.
