Janet Hubert and Will Smith ended their three-decade-old feud and began a new friendship.

The story started with Fresh Prince
When the shooting of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air began in 1990, Janet Hubert got the role of “Aunt Viv”.
Her X-ray-style dialogues with Will Smith brought life to the show.
After the third season of the show, Janet was replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid due to creative differences.
Three decades of distance and conflict
There was less closeness and more tension between Hubert and Smith.
After leaving the show in 1993, both of them also taunted each other in different interviews.
Janet openly said on V-103 radio station that Will “made fun of me” and she was lonely at that time.
Beginning of reconciliation
In 2020, HBO Max’s 30-year reunion special brought the two together.
While hugging, Will-Janet forgot the old bitterness and hugged each other.
Janet said that at that moment she saw the same 21-year-old Will Smith who had created a stir with her on TV.
How is the relationship today?
“Pretty good,” Janet said, laughing to Atlanta’s V-103.
Now they text regularly and also get help with 프로젝트.
Will created the website for her independent animated feature JG and the BC Kids and helped with promotion.
Both have regrets
In 2021, Janet told PEOPLE that if they had talked earlier, the 30-year feud would not have happened.
Will admitted in 2024 on Vice’s Black Comedy in America, “I underestimated him and that was my big mistake.”
Lessons and way forward
The story of this relationship teaches how many distances can be bridged with timely communication and respect.
Both Janet and Will realized that, along with acting, humanity also plays an important role.
Now that the three-decade-old feud is over, this renewed friendship has become even more special.
