Jared Padalecki is loved worldwide for his role as Dean Forester in ‘Gilmore Girls’. But his most precious fan is his own 8-year-old daughter, Odette.
She often watches the show with her mom, Genevieve, and loves everything about it… except for one thing!
Jared laughs, “Odette absolutely hates it when Dean and Rory kiss. She doesn’t understand why Daddy is kissing someone else.”
“Daddy Should Only Kiss Mommy!”
Jared’s wife, Genevieve, who is also an actress, tries to explain to Odette. She tells her that it’s just a character and part of the story. But Odette insists, “Daddy can only kiss Mommy!”
Responding to this innocent insistence, Jared says, “I can’t stand to see Odette upset.” This family joke has become a sweet part of their home life.
A Changed Perspective Since Having a Daughter
Jared described the birth of his daughter, after having two sons, as a special experience.
He said, “With sons, you think, ‘Get hurt, fall down, you’ll be fine.’ But with a daughter, you become more sensitive and protective.”
This change is evident in how Odette has touched a soft spot in her father’s heart.
From Supernatural to a Texas Farmhouse
Jared and Genevieve met on the set of ‘Supernatural’ in 2008. Today, they have three children and live on a large farmhouse in Texas.
There, they have dogs, miniature horses, chickens, and even a beehive! Leaving behind the hectic life of California, she chose the peaceful lifestyle of Texas, where her family is happily living.
And yes, Odette still watches her dad’s old shows and feels proud of him.
