Jennifer Holland explains how James Gunn’s busy schedule affects her home life without compromise.
Peacemaker Season 2 premiere
Peacemaker’s Emilia Harcourt, aka Jennifer Holland, recently opened up at the second season premiere of HBO Max’s hit series Peacemaker that she and her husband, filmmaker James Gunn, have almost no work-life balance.
These things, which were revealed on the red carpet at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater in New York on August 13, were interesting for the audience as well.
Husband’s 100% focus on DC Universe
Jennifer said that James’s full focus is on the DC Universe right now.
He has no reserve, just has to give “100% full force”.
Holland says, “I have never pressured James, but I know that his number one goal right now is to handle this opportunity with DC fully.”
She believes that James wants to do great work not only for himself, but also for the millions of fans who have been reading and watching these characters with great love.
An inside view of the industry’s challenges
Jennifer also acknowledged that no project can meet everyone’s expectations.
“Some people may be upset by the dialogue, some by the characters or the storyline, but James just wants the characters to be done justice and everyone to have fun.”
While working on Peacemaker, Holland feels this commitment from the show’s creator every day.
Whether it’s a Superman movie or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James follows the same standards every time.
Praise for chemistry on set and John Cena
Jennifer also praised her Peacemaker co-star John Cena.
She says, “I couldn’t have asked for a better, professional partner than John from Season 1 to Season 2.”
Their chemistry on set made the work even more enjoyable for both of them.
Emilia Harcourt’s new role
Holland says that Emilia’s character is also developing this season, but in a slightly opposite direction.
“Now you will see a new, perhaps a little raw side of Harcourt.
This time, this role will be scattered in many layers.”
A couple of decades
Jennifer and James’ love story is not seven hours old, but ten years old.
Since the two first met in 2015, they have not left each other’s side.
Married in October 2022, the couple has now been a part of not only Peacemaker but also many Gunn-directed films.
Peacemaker Season 2 premieres on HBO Max on August 21, 2025.
It remains to be seen how exciting the audience will find James Gunn’s cutting adjustments, Emilia Harcourt’s new moves and Holland’s performance.
