Jimmy Kimmel has won the Outstanding Host Award for Millionaire Hosting at the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys.

Jimmy Kimmel wins Best Host
Jimmy Kimmel won the Outstanding Host for a Game Show award for hosting “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” at the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys.
He dedicated the award to Regis Philbin, from whom he learned that having a HEART is the key to winning a game show, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.
Old smile, new feeling
Kimmel recalled his first hosting days, saying his first TV show was Win Ben Stein’s Money, where he hosted the first-ever game show with Ben.
He also won an Emmy for that show. He didn’t understand what winning really was, just a chance to fly—and that moment is still vivid today.
Tough competition, top lineup
Nominated for Outstanding Host were:
- Elizabeth Banks (Press Your Luck)
- Steve Harvey (Celebrity Family Feud)
- Ken Jennings (Jeopardy!)
- Colin Jost (Pop Culture Jeopardy!)
Among all these, Jimmy Kimmel’s humor and easy-going style shone the most.

Thanked from the heart
In his acceptance speech, Kimmel thanked Regis Philbin and stated that the show’s spirit had always inspired him.
He also reminded that sometimes winning is a game of luck and timing—if you understand this, then the fun is something else.

A funny story related to Emmy
Jimmy said that when he won the Emmy for the first time, he went to Susan Lucci and gave his trophy to her.
Lucci’s long losing streak made him laugh and think, “Well, at least somebody’s happy.”
The moment became one of the most graceful exchanges in Emmy history.
From the other hosts
Elizabeth Banks described hosting Press Your Luck as “tough as dropping a harness,” where she has to shoot two episodes a day.
Steve Harvey shared the secret to success on Family Feud—“not breaking the human line even when joking.”
Ken Jennings paid tribute to anchoring Jeopardy!, where Alex Trebek is still missed.
Colin Jost described the energy on the set of Pop Culture Jeopardy! as a lively party every episode.
The Road Ahead
24 nominees and three wins—Jimmy Kimmel is one of the game show hosting stars of all time.
He will soon host Jimmy Kimmel Live! Additionally, he will host the new installments of Millionaire.
His journey in the world of game shows is going to bring even more exciting turns.
In this celebration of victory, we are seeing how a combination of humor, humility and enthusiasm can make game show hosting special.
It is not known who will become the next superstar, but Jimmy Kimmel’s shine will be seen far and wide.
