The third episode of Season 2 of Landman brings a mountain of troubles for Cami Miller (Demi Moore). After the death of her husband, Monty Miller (Jon Hamm), Cami must now swallow a bitter truth.
When she investigates the company’s finances, she discovers that M-Tex is empty inside. Monty funded his lavish lifestyle and the company’s operations solely on heavy loans and lines of credit.
Lawyers Nate and Rebecca explain that the money has been diverted to various LLCs, but the actual account balance is zero.
Cami is now at a loss as to where the money for offshore drilling will come from.
The Poisonous Gas Woe
The episode begins with a terrifying start as Tommy Norris’s (Billy Bob Thornton) team visits an old site.
Hydrogen Sulfide (HS) gas is leaking there, which, despite being invisible, is extremely deadly.
The team’s condition worsens after seeing dead bodies and animals there. The gas’s effect is so strong that some people faint and have to be airlifted.
This incident shows that while there’s money in the oil business, there’s also the risk of death at every step.
New Twist in the Cattlemen’s Club
The search for money leads Cami and Tommy to the Cattlemen’s Club, where they take Monty’s lawyer, Alan, into custody. But the story takes a turn when cartel boss Gallino (Andy Garcia) joins them.
Gallino casually offers Cami that he “invests in people” and that he trusts Cami. Cami, compelled, refuses, saying she might need an investor. This hints at a new but dangerous partnership.
Unsolicited Proposal?
A light moment comes amid all this tension. Returning, Angela (Ali Larter) reminds Tommy that he called her his “wife” in front of Gallino.
Tommy explains that they’re living together, so he said so. But Angela takes it as a simple marriage proposal and says “yes.”
Tommy is stunned, but it seems wedding bells are about to ring, even though Tommy hasn’t technically proposed!
