Fred Grandy still regrets! Learn about the party culture of The Love Boat.

That scene from ‘Love Boat’, Fred Grandy still regrets
Do you remember the time when ‘The Love Boat‘ was the brightest star on TV? But behind the show’s glitz, there are some stories that even the actors regret.
Fred Grandy, known as Gopher, is now opening up about those moments.
Parties Around the World
Following the show’s success, the cast had the opportunity to shoot around the world. Fred recalls, “In the third season, we went to Australia, Greece, and China.
The celebrations and fun were doubled in every new location.” The ship’s discos and casinos often went on until late into the night.
Ted Lange says, “We would party together, have dinner together… but we never got bored of each other!”
Those were different times
But there was another side to this party culture. Fred admits, “Controlled substance use was common in those days.” This is what led to Lauren Teves’s difficulties.
Lauren, who played cruise director Julie McCoy, was fired from her job due to cocaine addiction.
Still Hurts My Heart
Lauren said in the documentary series, “I was blacklisted because I was a woman back then.”
Fred is most hurt today by the fact that he didn’t support Lauren.
He says, “My only regret is that I didn’t support Lauren at the time. Today, we would react differently in such situations.”
This story teaches us that even behind dazzling success, human weaknesses and regrets lie hidden.
Fred Grandy’s words also point to the changing morality of time.
