Lucas Bravo's incredible journey

Almost Missing the Chance

Lucas Bravo is now famous for playing the “hot chef” Gabriel in the show Emily in Paris. However, he almost didn’t get the part.

At first, the studio (Paramount) rejected him because he did not have much acting experience.

Even though he tried out five times over several months, they did not want to take a risk on him. Lucas was very sad about the news.

He went to the mountains in Corsica to clear his head. Because he was in the mountains, he had no cell phone service and didn’t know that the show creators had changed their minds.

A Surprise Second Chance

When Lucas finally checked his phone, he saw 40 missed messages from the casting director. He went back to read lines with the star of the show, Lily Collins.

They got along perfectly right away. Lucas said it was very easy to work with Lily because she is so kind.

He was very nervous during the meeting and talked about goat cheese for 10 minutes! He thought he had ruined his chances again, but the chemistry was there.

The Creator’s Choice

The creator of the show, Darren Star, really wanted Lucas for the role.

Even though the studio was not sure, Star fought for him. He believed in Lucas from the very beginning.

This was a great choice because, since the show started in 2020, fans have loved Lucas as Gabriel. Lucas also really wanted to work with Darren Star because he thinks Star is a legend.

Changing the Character

By Season 4, Lucas felt a bit unhappy with his character. He felt Gabriel had become too boring and sad.

He even thought about leaving the show. But by late 2025, things changed.

Lucas told fans that Gabriel would be more like he was in the first season—fun and exciting again.

Season 5 premiered on December 18, 2025, and fans are happy to see the “fun Gabriel” return.
