Madonna released a special version of “Dress You Up” in memory of Mario and Gianni.

A unique journey of two hearts
Madonna has re-released her 1985 hit song “Dress You Up” as a special three-track digital release, paying tribute to two of her most devoted superfans, Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi.
The release marks the song’s 40th anniversary.
Heartwarming tribute
Following the tragic passing of Paglino and Grossi, Madonna’s team announced that this special edition of “Dress You Up” is dedicated to these late Barbie designers.
The team thanked the pair for the custom creations they have adorned in Madonna’s iconic looks over the years.
Who were these artists?
Mario and Gianni were not only professional but also romantic partners, having founded ‘Magia 2000’ in 1999.
The company specialized in bespoke, couture-level Barbie dolls.
In 2011, they launched the Italian Doll Convention, which has become Europe’s largest fashion doll event.

Tragedy
On July 27, 2025, the couple was traveling on Italy’s A4 Turin-Milan highway when an 82-year-old motorist driving in the wrong direction collided head-on with their vehicle near the Marcallo-Mesero tollbooth in Lombardy.
The accident killed Paglino, Grossi, and banker Amodeo Valerio Giurni; Giurni’s wife, Silvia Moramarco, survived with injuries.
