Marc Maron paid 50,000 dollars for Taylor Swift’s song – why was this special song so needed?

$50,000 Love
Oh wow! Have you heard? Comedian Marc Maron spent a whopping $50,000 to use a Taylor Swift song for his new HBO stand-up special!
Yes, that much money for just one minute! Imagine how much it would have cost if he wanted a two-minute song!
Friend’s help but pay full price
Maron, 61, sought help from mutual friend Jack Antonoff to include the song “Bigger Than the Whole Sky” in his show “Marc Maron: Panicked”.
He asked Jack, who is the co-writer of this song, “Dude, can I get a discount?”
But friendship is different, business is different! Ultimately he had to deal with the official channels.
“It was meant to be”
According to Maron, there was a moment in his special for which this song was perfect.
If Taylor had not said yes, my whole joke would have been useless,” he said.
Now he is just “manifesting” that Taylor liked those jokes!
Swifty while hiking
The funny thing is that Maron is already a fan of Swift! In his podcast “WTF with Marc Maron”, he said that once while hiking, he heard the album “Midnights” and then became a fan.
In his words, “It’s not just pop music… it has feelings of longing, sadness and isolation.”
Special to be released in August
“Marc Maron: Panicked” will be released on HBO on August 1 and can be streamed on HBO Max.
Maron says that this is his best work till date. Earlier, his special “From Bleak to Dark” was highly appreciated, in which he explored the grief after the death of his partner Lynn Shelton.
Would you also give so much money?
Imagine, if you have to pay so much money for a song? Will you give it?
Or will you find another song? Is Taylor Swift’s music really that special or is it just brand value?
And don’t forget to watch Maron’s special on August 1. Let’s see what a $50,000 song sounds like!
