Mayim Bialik revealed that Disney stopped Blossom reboot and said ‘This door is closed’. Know the real reason now.

How did the idea start?
Mayim Bialik and Don Reo proposed a Blossom reboot to Disney when they were both busy with their respective shows Call Me Kat
and Jeopardy!
.
The idea to revive the popular 90s sitcom was also because fans still remember Blossom Russo.
Mayim says that the Disney team was very enthusiastic in the initial meetings.
Did Disney give the green signal first?
At first Disney understood the project, liked the idea and even talked to the press.
Mayim writes, “We felt certain this was moving forward.” As representation changed amid mergers and industry shakeups, it suddenly disappeared from the launch table.
It was as if someone pressed the off button on the remote in the middle of the drama.
Then came the downfall?
After a great start, Disney said straight out ‘no’ in the second meeting.
No reboot, no possibility of transfer of rights, just a closed door.
Mayim wrote on Substack, “This door closed,” and said that she also requested to take the rights, so that she can take it forward somewhere else. But Disney did not accept this either.
Truth of Mayim’s letter
Mayim did not give up in the Substack post. She said, “Blossom Russo is the character I want to play the most.”
She expressed her desire that even if Disney stole the opportunity, the market should tell that the nostalgia of the 90s is still alive among the people.
Along with this, Mayim, while getting emotional, admitted that this cancellation has reduced her enthusiasm to work on camera a bit.
Will not give up: Mayim’s new path
Mayim also said that she did not come asking for a sympathetic role—“I have had an incredible career,” despite those questions, she maintained positivity.
The door that closed, maybe another one will open.
For fans, this was just the first incomplete chapter; the next story might be shot somewhere else.
Mayim’s journey with Blossom not only reminds us of memorable moments of the ’90s but also shows that sometimes great transparency can open new doors in the industry. So are you ready for the next episode?
