Michael J. Fox replaced Eric Stoltz in BTTF. Lea Thompson was angry and worked day and night.

Michael J. Fox Was Mistaken for an Imposter by a Co-Star
interesting story has been revealed in his new book, “Future Boy.”
This story dates back to the early days of filming Back to the Future (BTTF), when Michael J. Fox first saw his co-star, Lea Thompson, on set.
Let’s find out what happened and why Fox was under so much pressure!
Co-Star’s Initial “Grumpy” Attitude
Michael J. Fox reveals in his book that Lea Thompson (who played Marty McFly’s mother) was initially a bit rude to him when filming began on BTTF.
According to Fox, Lea thought Fox was an impostor!
In fact, Lea Thompson’s friend Eric Stoltz was cast as Marty McFly, but after a few weeks of shooting, the filmmakers removed him.
He was replaced by Michael J. Fox. Furthermore, there was a strange bias in Hollywood at the time—film actors were considered more important than TV actors.
Fox was the star of the hit sitcom “Family Ties,” so Lea wondered why a TV actor was taking on the lead role in a major film.
However, Fox says he didn’t even notice Lea’s attitude at the time because he was so busy.
TV by Day, Movies by Night
Fox was under so much work pressure that he didn’t have time to think about anything else.
He would shoot his TV series “Family Ties” during the day, and as soon as it finished, he would head straight to the set of “Back to the Future” for night duty.
He would go home and get two or three hours of sleep, and the next day the same routine would begin again.
Being involved mid-filming, he had no time to prepare.
He simply had to jump onto the set and hope his work would sync with the rest of the crew.
All he wanted was to look good and the film to be a success.
Realizing His Value After Years
Interestingly, Fox learned many years later that he was the first choice for the role of Marty McFly.
The creator of “Family Ties” initially rejected him, but then Eric Stoltz was considered.
When Stoltz was removed, Fox got the role.
After all these years, Michael J. Fox realized the fruits of his hard work when he was decorating the Christmas tree with his wife, Tracy Pollan, and their children.
He suddenly saw BTTF on TV and sat down to watch. 45 minutes later, Tracy asked him where he was.
Fox replied casually, “Man, this movie is really good… and I’m really good in it.”
After enduring so much struggle and pressure, it’s worth praising yourself!
This story of Michael J. Fox shows that hard work and the right talent always pay off.
