What is Mark Harmon doing after leaving NCIS? Find out about his new show, book.

Gibbs’ Emotional Goodbye!
NCIS‘s iconic character, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, aka Mark Harmon, said goodbye to the show in 2021.
But his exit wasn’t easy, especially for the cast who worked with him.
Sean Murray, who plays Timothy McGee, still remembers that last scene. “We were fly fishing in a river,” Murray remembers.
“When I was saying goodbye to Mark, the whole crew was crying. One crew member said to me, ‘You made a grown man cry!'”
Gibbs decided to stay in Alaska after solving a case. Instead of closing the shop, his character began to live there peacefully.
Mark Harmon: Not Retirement
People thought Harmon had retired, but he clarified, “I left the show, not retired!” He continued his work.
In 2023, he also wrote a book – ‘Ghosts of Honolulu’ – which tells an untold story of Pearl Harbor. And a fun fact for fans? He’ll also appear in the 2025 film ‘Freakier Friday’!
Returning to the NCIS world… but in a new avatar
Gibbs isn’t on screen, but Harmon remains deeply involved in the NCIS world.
He is the narrator and producer of the new prequel show ‘NCIS: Origins’. This show tells the story of a young Gibbs.
What’s more exciting? On November 11th, a special crossover episode will air where the present-day NCIS team and the ‘Origins’ team will work on the same case.
And Mark Harmon will even make a guest appearance in this episode!
Harmon said, “I loved this idea for Gibbs… I hope the fans will love it.”
