Nicole recently told PEOPLE magazine that she has no plans to return to unscripted TV. “I participated in the reunion because it was a 20-year celebration and it felt right,” she said.
She was speaking at the opening of FASHIONPHILE‘s new flagship store in Los Angeles.
A Celebration of Friendship and Memories
Nicole added, “It felt like we both wanted to do it, and it was a lot of fun. But I don’t have any plans for it in the future.”
By the way, “The Simple Life” premiered in 2003 and ended in 2007. The five-season show aired its first three seasons on Fox, and the remaining two on E!.
The Show Becomes an International Hit
The show spawned several international remakes and spinoff series, one of which was hosted by Paris’s mother, Kathy Hilton!
And recently, a decade after “The Simple Life” ended, “Paris & Nicole: The Encore” aired on Peacock.
The Return of “Sanasa”
“Paris & Nicole: The Encore” featured Nicole and Paris preparing an operatic performance based on “sanasa,”—a term they coined from the old reality show.
Both friends are now 44 years old and have advanced in their respective careers.
Parents were against the show
In an interview with Glamour, Nicole and Paris revealed that when the idea for “The Simple Life” was first conceived, their parents were against it.
Paris’s parents are Kathy and Rick Hilton, while Nicole was adopted by Lionel Richie and Brenda Harvey Richie at the age of 9.
Finally Recognized
“Our parents didn’t want us to do it and forbade us,” Paris explained. “It was the first show of its kind.” However, after the first episode aired, their parents’ attitudes changed.
Paris said, “My mom called me and said, ‘This is the funniest show I’ve ever seen. You and Nicole are amazing.’ She said, ‘I was wrong the first time.'”
