Phil Robertson’s last will: “Don’t cry at my funeral”, Willie shares emotional message

‘Duck Dynasty’ patriarch departs
‘Duck Dynasty’ legend Phil Robertson is no longer with us. He passed away in May 2025 at the age of 79.
His son Willie Robertson recently shared his father’s last message, which made everyone emotional.
He was battling Alzheimer’s
Phil was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in December last year.
Willie told TV Insider, “Phil had been battling Alzheimer’s for a long time. It was on our minds, his condition. It’s part of life.”
The last message was unique
With his strong faith, Phil had told the family, “Don’t cry at my funeral.
I know where I’m going.” Willie recalled, “What a life he lived!
We heard from thousands of people who were influenced by him.”
Show and farewell together
In a strange coincidence, the family’s new show ‘Duck Dynasty: The Revival’ premiered the same week Phil passed away. Korie described it as “a little surreal”.
“The first episode of our show came out the same week Phil left.
It was really special for our family that we had that one little clip.”
Less participation in the show due to Alzheimer’s
When the new show was being shot, Phil was already in the severe stages of Alzheimer’s.
So he was not able to participate much. “We filmed a little thing where he gave Willie a thumbs up.
That was really special because our family felt, okay, this is his opportunity to pass the torch to us.”
Special tribute to be in the second season
Willie revealed that the show’s second season will have an entire episode on Phil’s passing.
“As the show goes on, there will be a big show about Phil’s passing.
We’ll do some crazy things in his honor and honor him as well.”
Family tribute
On May 25, Willie and Korie wrote on social media, “We celebrate today that our father, husband and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord.”
His son Jase wrote on Instagram, “My dad went to be with the Lord today!
We will miss him, but we know he is in good hands.”
Phil’s legacy and his strong faith will live on through ‘Duck Dynasty: The Revival,’ which airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. on A&E.
