Prince William’s Video Message
A big surprise guest arrived in the ballroom of Dancing with the Stars – Prince William himself! He sent his support to show contestant and Earthshot Prize ambassador Robert Irwin through a video message.
William told Robert, “We miss you here! While you’re out there showing off your ‘twinkle toes,’ I need you here.”
He also spoke to Robert’s partner, Witney Carson, and said, “Put as much glitter on it as possible!”
Witney was completely shocked. She exclaimed, “I can’t believe they named me!”
Emotional Dedication
Robert Irwin dedicated his foxtrot dance that night to his sister, Bindi Irwin. He said, “This dance is for Bindi and for Prince William, so we have to get it perfect!”
This dance was even more special because Bindi had also danced to the same song (“Footprints in the Sand”) on her winning season, and at that time, she had dedicated it to her father, Steve Irwin.
Robert admitted that there was “a lot of pressure” to dance with all these memories.
Why wasn’t Robert in Brazil?
Robert explained that he was originally supposed to be in Brazil this week with Prince William at the Earthshot Prize event.
But due to his advancement in the Dancing with the Stars competition, he had to tell William that he was still on the show.
Robert is carrying forward the legacy of his late father, Steve Irwin, and leading Australia Zoo’s conservation efforts. The Earthshot Prize continues his passion.
