The actress who played that character, Alexandra Daddario, has the answer… and it’s a bit gloomy.

“In my mind, she’s with him”

Daddario believes Rachel may have decided to stay with Shane. She says, “In my mind, she’s with him.

And today, four years later, what would they be like? Did they have children? There could be many ways to do that.”

But she also becomes a little sad, thinking, “It’s sad to think that she’s still with him (Shane) in that creative world.”

Meaning, Rachel’s own identity, her writing, may have been drowned in the weight of that marriage.

Remember Season 1? At the White Lotus Resort in Maui, Rachel was already struggling with her new marriage.

She wondered if she could spend her life with a lonely and selfish man like Shane.

Finally, she decided to go ahead with the marriage, not out of emotion, but because she was forced into a situation that seemed appropriate at the time. Shane even assaulted hotel manager Armond!

So, imagine how the relationship would have fared after such a start?

She says, “I haven’t turned on the TV since my baby was born. I swear!” She can’t even see her friends’ work, which she feels bad about.

In fact, her little son is her world now. “He comes and sits next to me, and I don’t want him to watch The White Lotus.” How sweet!

Daddario believes the real decision will rest with show creator Mike White. She says, “I’m very curious to know what he thinks about Rachel.”

Daddario’s new work has a special story

Currently, Daddario is starring in a new movie, “I Wish You All the Best.”

It’s an LGBTQ+ coming-of-age film, in which she plays a woman who adopts her nonbinary sibling into her home.

Daddario calls the film an “important story.” So, Rachel’s story in The White Lotus is heartbreaking, but Alexandra Daddario is telling special stories in real life.
