In the premiere of And Just Like That… season 3, Sarah Jessica Parker wore a voluminous bonnet-style hat, which created a stir on the internet.
People started comparing Carrie Bradshaw to Strawberry Shortcake, and the pictures went viral in no time.
Love at first sight
Sarah said that as soon as she came to the wardrobe room, “the first item I saw on the rack was for me.”
The hat was designed by Maryam Keyhani, but it is considered almost impossible to maintain its shape in linen.
Still, Sarah said, “I saw it and just asked, ‘How will this fit on my head?’”

The hat was so “massive and shapeless” that milliners usually do not work in linen. But Sarah said, “I love hats, so I said, ‘We have to put it somewhere.’

Series creator Michael Patrick King told Glamour that the hat looked like a “Hindenburg balloon” that landed on Carrie’s head.
He laughed and said, “People who saw it thought it would either say ‘I love it’ or ‘What was she thinking?’”
Mixed reactions from fans
Sarah was not surprised by the hat going viral. In a Q&A, she said, “I didn’t care what people thought, it was just fun for me.”
Some called it a fashion statement, while others called it an over-the-top design.
New trend for Halloween?
King predicted that people would definitely wear it on Halloween.
Sarah told USA Today that King is now open to “large-scale headpieces.”
Once he gave in to Sarah’s insistence, no size seemed too big.

Carrie strolled around the park eating ice cream in an Ossie Clark dress and Dr. Scholl’s slides, and didn’t consider the hat a major distraction.
Sarah believed that no matter how big the 3×4 hat was, the fun element would never diminish.
