Simon Pegg reveals the secret of the “batshit crazy” script, find out why Tarantino’s unique story is gathering dust.

The story of the film was “batshit crazy”
Star Trek’s Scotty i.e. Simon Pegg made a big revelation at Fan Expo Boston.
He told that the concept of famous film director Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek film was “batshit crazy”!
He got this information from producers Lindsey Weber and J.J. Abrams, who told about the script in detail.
How did this project start?
This collaboration between Tarantino and Star Trek was announced in December 2017.
Paramount and J.J. Abrams accepted Tarantino’s R-rated pitch.
Imagine, Tarantino’s touch on a family friendly franchise like Star Trek – it would have been something different!
What was special in the script?
The script was being written by The Revenant writer Mark L. Smith, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines’ Lindsey Beer, and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’s Drew Pearce.
Smith eventually emerged as the frontrunner.
Initial reports suggested the film would involve Captain Kirk, time travel, and a 1930s gangster-movie vibe.
It was inspired by the Original Series episode “A Piece of the Action.”
Why did Tarantino leave the project?
Interesting! Tarantino feared this could be his last film, and that it might not be the right note to end his career on.
He stepped down as director because of this fear, and now the script is gathering dust on his desk.
What does Pegg think?
Simon Pegg, who played Scotty in the 2009-2016 Kelvin Timeline films, admitted he never saw the original script.
But he added, “It was exactly what you would expect from a Quentin Tarantino Star Trek script.”
He believes that while it may have divided diehard Star Trek fans, it would have been an interesting experiment!
Is there still hope?
Despite the end of the Tarantino project, Pegg is hopeful that the Kelvin Timeline can live on.
He pointed to David Ellison – who is now chairman and CEO of Paramount Skydance Corporation following the merger – and expressed hope that another big screen film with the original cast could happen.
Although Tarantino’s Star Trek didn’t happen, it’s interesting to imagine what it would have been like – perhaps absolutely insane, but certainly fun!
