Steve McBee Sr.’s New Place: Jail

The day has finally come. McBee Dynasty star Steve McBee Sr. surrendered himself at Yankton federal prison in South Dakota on December 1, 2025.

He was sentenced to 24 months (two years) in prison for crop insurance fraud. The court gave him until 2 p.m., and he arrived around 1:30 p.m.

What was the whole matter?

Steve pleaded guilty to federal crop insurance fraud in 2024. He was accused of obtaining insurance money by falsifying documents.

Along with the sentence, he was also ordered to pay a fine of approximately $4 million (approximately ₹33 crore).

Hope remains

Before going to jail, Steve said he was hoping to be released soon.

He plans to either have his sentence commuted through the “First Step Act” or have President Donald Trump grant him a pardon (pardon). He is working on this with his lawyers.

Todd Chrisley Becomes a Mentor

Steve has received significant support from another reality star, Todd Chrisley, during this difficult time. Todd himself was in prison for bank fraud and was later pardoned.

Steve said that Todd would message him every other day, encouraging him and explaining how to cope in prison.

“He would tell me, ‘It’s all going to be fine, we’ll get through this,'” Steve shared.

Family Together and an Unfulfilled Wish

Before going to jail, Steve celebrated Thanksgiving with his family. His four sons—Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole, and Brayden—and his ex-wife, Kristi, went to jail to see him off.

Steve’s biggest regret is that his son, Cole, is getting married, and he might not be able to attend. He said, “I feel really bad, but I hope I’ll get out soon and we’ll have a grand wedding.”

Steve also jokingly said that the biggest pressure is that people will think he’ll come out of jail as a bodybuilder! Right now, they are waiting for this storm to pass.
