Thanksgiving and the Last Royal Treat
Just before going to jail, Steve decided to become a chef for his family. He announced that he would cook for everyone at the Gallatin lodge on Thanksgiving.
The menu included smoked prime rib and turkey. Furthermore, on Sunday, the night before going to jail, he would eat his favorite meal. Being a
“Cattle guy,” he prefers steak and potatoes, whether mashed or fried.
Not Jail, It’s a ‘Sabbatical’
Steve is quite positive about his 24-month sentence (for insurance fraud). He wants his family to be safe.
He jokingly said that he’s never taken a long vacation in his life, so perhaps this prison journey will be like a “sabbatical” (long break) for him.
The biggest pressure is to leave prison with a built body! The Yankton prison gym is said to be quite good, so Steve is planning to get fit there.
More worried about Gunner than his sons
The strange thing is that Steve isn’t as worried about his four sons—Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole, and Brayden—because they’re all grown up now. He’s most afraid of his pug, Gunner.
Gunner used to ride with him in tractors and bulldozers. Now, Gunner will live with Steve’s mother. Steve’s ex-wife, Kristi, has said she will try to get Gunner to visit him in jail occasionally.

Steve deeply regrets that his imprisonment could impact the marriage of his son Cole and his fiancée Kacie. He wanted to be present at the wedding.
