Stranger Things 5

Were you also eagerly awaiting the final season of ‘Stranger Things‘ on Wednesday, November 26th at 5 p.m. PT?

As soon as the first four episodes of the horror-sci-fi show were released, it felt as if the Upside Down had taken over Netflix itself!

Yes, amid the intense hype, Netflix crashed, and millions of viewers were deprived of watching the first half of ‘Stranger Things’ final season.

Duffer Brothers’ Claim and Streaming Outage

Social media erupted in an uproar! One user wrote, “Netflix, get well soon, bro, I’ve been waiting three years!”

In fact, the crash occurred hours before the show’s co-creator, Ross Duffer, claimed on Instagram Stories that “Netflix had increased bandwidth by 30% to prevent crashes.” Unfortunately, that effort failed.

However, according to a Netflix representative, the issue only affected some members streaming on TV devices, and the problem was resolved within five minutes.

Story Time and a Long Jump

The anticipation for this season was particularly significant because Season 4 was released three years ago, and was set in Spring 1986. Now, a November 2024 teaser revealed that the new season will be set in Fall 1987.

This isn’t as significant a time jump as fans were expecting.

Well, in this final and epic season, our dear friends Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, and David Harbour, along with the entire cast, are once again ready for the final confrontation with the Upside Down.

Episode Length and Future Schedule

Matt Duffer told TheWrap that Season 5 won’t be as long as Season 4 (approximately 13 hours).

He thinks it will be like Return of the Jedi – a straight-up, without much of a ‘ramp-up’!

This season consists of a total of eight episodes. Ross Duffer also shared the runtimes for the first four episodes last month:

  • Episode 1: 1 hour 8 minutes
  • Episode 2: 54 minutes
  • Episode 3: 1 hour 6 minutes
  • Episode 4: 1 hour 23 minutes

The remaining episodes – 5, 6, and 7 – will be released on December 25th, and the series finale will air on December 31st.
