Taraji P. Henson and Cedric the Entertainer rock Broadway!

Are you a fan of these two Hollywood legends? Then this news is for you!

Taraji P. Henson and Cedric the Entertainer will soon be seen together on Broadway and I am very excited for this!

Laughing moments in a serious play

These two stars will play the lead roles in August Wilson’s famous play “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone”.

Although it is a serious play, Taraji says, “We will find some funny moments in it too.”

A tadka of laughter amidst the seriousness, wow!

The play is a story of the time of 1911, in which a person struggles with the pain of slavery and searches for his identity. In such a situation, light moments will be needed!

Old friends, new journey

These two actors are not working together for the first time.

Their journey, which began with “Talk to Me” in 2007, led to “Larry Crowne” (2011) and “Madly Madagascar” (2013).

Taraji said, “Cedric is perfect for this role. There couldn’t be a better casting!”

Character preview

53-year-old Taraji will play Bertha Holly, the owner of a boarding house in Pittsburgh, while 61-year-old Cedric will play her husband, Seth.

Are you excited to see the pair together?

New history on Broadway

This will be Taraji’s Broadway debut, although she has previously been a producer of “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding”.

Cedric, on the other hand, is returning to Broadway for the first time since 2008.

The Legacy of August Wilson

Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” is part of August Wilson’s “American Century Cycle” series of ten plays that explore the African-American experience in each decade of the 20th century.

This new production will be directed by the renowned Debbie Allen and produced by Brian Anthony Moreland, who has recently worked with legends such as Samuel L. Jackson and Denzel Washington.

The Wait

This spectacular production will open at the Shubert Theatre in New York in the spring of 2026.

Ticket information, cast members, and exact dates have not yet been announced.
