HBO Max has not yet renewed The Task, but Brad Ingelsby told Esquire that if the response is high, he would definitely like to make a second season.

Ingelsby’s Home and Crossover Idea

Creator Brad Ingelsby brought the Delco setting of Maine of Easttown back to life, and Task saw the same community connection.

Ingelsby hinted that perhaps a future crossover between Maine of Easttown and Task could happen—imagine, Maine standing across from Tom at a Wawa store!

Who Can Come Back?

The deaths of some key characters in Season 1 created a distance between Robbie (Tom Pelphrey), Lizzie Stover (Alison Oliver), and Cliff Broward (Raúl Castillo).

Flashbacks are possible, but his full-time return seems unlikely. Mark Ruffalo’s schedule is also tight—with projects like Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Good Sex, and Crime 101 lined up.

So, if Season 2 happens, a Tom Brandis cameo is guaranteed, and other twists will depend on the writers’ plans.
