We all know The Good Place and Cheers star Ted Danson for his excellent acting, but in real life, he’s a very proud dad.

He has two daughters, Kate and Katrina, from his second wife, Casey Coates.

Although Ted keeps his personal life private and rarely talks about his children, both of his daughters are pursuing creative endeavors in their respective fields.

Acting Chose the ‘Family Business’

Ted’s eldest daughter, Kate Danson (45), initially refused to follow in her father’s footsteps. She went through a “rebellious” phase where she felt she had to create her own identity.

But gradually, she realized that acting was her true passion. When she made this decision, her father, Ted, welcomed her, saying, “Welcome to the family business.”

Kate even worked with her father on an episode of the popular show CSI, where she thoroughly enjoyed playing a lawyer against her dad’s character.

A Passion for Theater and Photography

Kate’s talents aren’t limited to being in front of the camera. She’s also very active in the theater world, having directed and produced several plays in New York.

Besides all this, there’s another interesting aspect to her life—she’s a professional doula, assisting women during childbirth. She’s also an excellent photographer.

Katrina in the Music World

The younger daughter, Katrina Danson (40), keeps a slightly more low-profile profile than her older sister.

As a child, she loved visiting her father’s set of Cheers, even though she sometimes had to stay up late.

Katrina has pursued a music career, away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

She has released music under various names, including ‘Kat Danson’ and ‘Lux Lovelle,’ and one of her songs has even been featured on the popular show Dance Moms.

A Happy Blended Family

Ted’s two daughters also share a loving relationship with his current wife, actress Mary Steenburgen.

Together with Mary’s children, they form a supportive and happy “blended family.”

Both daughters even attended their father’s second wedding and are seen standing by each other’s side at every important family occasion.
