The Voice Season 28: A rocking return
Season 28 of The Voice is set to air on NBC on Sept. 22.
In a first-look clip obtained by PEOPLE, the coaches—Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan and Michael Bublé—are back in their red cheers, and are cranking up the fun.
This time, it’s not just the singers who are having fun, but the judges’ mischief, too.
Snoop Dogg’s rap style
53-year-old Snoop Dogg motivated the contestants this time around through a rap.
He told one singer, “It took me all this time to get real — only you can seal the deal based on the way that you feel.”
His swag, his rhyming, everything is brand new—which instantly elevates the show’s vibe.
Reba McEntire’s Customized Fans
Country queen Reba is back as a coach for the fourth time and has brought along her own folding fans with her face printed on them.
When fans in the audience stand up, Reba takes the mic and asks, “Fans, who should they go with?”
As if the fans are deciding for themselves! This playful idea takes the audience’s excitement to the next level.
Niall Horan’s charming approach
31-year-old Niall Horan, who won Seasons 23 and 24, is back with his signature sweetness.
Complimenting the contestant, he said, “I loved your song choice.”
When the singer replied, “I know where your birthmarks are,” Niall’s surprised look was priceless.
It’s a perfect combo of innocence and charm.
Michael Bublé’s Unpredictable Penalty Box
49-year-old Michael Bublé surprised everyone with his Penalty Box this season.
He says, “When somebody’s a bad boy, we put them in the penalty box.
Now you get two minutes for looking too good,”
and then sets up the box around Niall’s chair. It’s hilarious, and the judges’ camaraderie is also visible.
New twist: Carson Callback
Host Carson Daly has introduced a new round, Carson Callback.
He says, “Sometimes I see great singers fall through the cracks and I’ve never been able to do anything about it until right now.”
If your talent is missed in the initial rounds, then you will get a chance to make a comeback in the Callback.
