In a recent interview, which was quickly deleted but is now all over the internet, Timothée Chalamet flatly stated that his performance as Jewish American table tennis legend Marty Mouser is probably his best acting performance to date.

He then reminded everyone that he’s been giving “really, really committed, top-of-the-line performances” for nearly eight years.

Interview goes viral

Timothée Chalamet reportedly said, “It needs to be said out loud,” in the interview, which was first posted on Margaret Gardiner’s YouTube channel and has since been removed.

The actor clearly wanted people to recognize his hard work, adding, “The discipline and work ethic I bring to these things, I don’t want people to take that for granted. It’s really some top-level s—.”

This overconfident claim spread like wildfire online, even though many video clips have been removed from X and Reddit.

Aiming for the Top

Chalamet seems just as passionate as his character in Marty Supreme. At the 2025 SAG Awards, where he won for portraying Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, he made his big dreams clear: “I want to be one of the greats…

I’m as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps, and I want to get there.”

Movie Details

Marty Supreme is directed by Josh Safdie and co-written by Ronald Bronstein.

The film boasts a stellar cast, including Gwyneth Paltrow (who probably thought her character’s makeup was her real skin and gave her skincare tips), Tyler, the Creator, and Fran Drescher.

The film is set to be released on December 25th, giving audiences a chance to decide whether Chalamet’s self-praise is true.

Even though he didn’t win an Oscar for A Complete Unknown last year, Chalamet admitted to Vogue that he’s competitive: “If there are five people at an awards show, and four of them lose and go home, don’t you think those four people are going to be at the restaurant like, ‘Goddamn, we didn’t win?'”
