‘Christmas on Duty’ isn’t just a Christmas movie, it’s a way to salute military families.
This was a special occasion for Janel Parrish because her sister is in the military herself. She says, “This was very close to my heart.
My sister was so happy that we were representing military families.”
Wearing a uniform wasn’t new for Parker Young, but like every other occasion, it was a moment of pride for him.
He has family and friends who are military members, so he understands their sacrifice deeply.
“First Meeting, Then Friendship”
Hallmark films are often shot quickly, and actors often meet for the first time on set. But Janel and Parker’s friendship began at the hotel!
Their first dinner was so good that it dragged on. Parker says, “We both felt we were very lucky. Our natural chemistry made things easy.”
A Question of Height, and a Competition!
These two actors have a significant height difference, which required Janelle to stand on an apple box several times! But the film’s funniest story was the obstacle course.
Parker was so competitive that he was asked to slow down for the camera because his character had to lose in the film!
Parker admits, “I had to lose… and that was a growing experience for me!” Joking around with Janelle, he says, “She taught me how to win.”
Hallmark’s Special Style
Working with Hallmark has been a wonderful experience for both actors.
Janelle, who has appeared in nine Hallmark films, says the atmosphere is very positive. She says, “Everyone is happy here, and that love comes through on screen.”
Parker also agrees that the director and the entire team created a fun atmosphere on set.
