Witney Carson cracks a funny joke on Robert Irwin about Underwear Ads, DWTS couple becomes special.
New pairing
Robert Irwin and pro dancer Witney Carson’s pairing stole the show on Season 34 of DWTS.
The duo appeared on Wednesday, September 3, and gave an exclusive interview to PEOPLE, Good Morning America reports.
First glimpse of childhood
Robert revealed that he first met Witney about ten years ago, when his sister, Bindi Irwin, was participating in DWTS Season 21.
“I was a little kid then,” Robert says. “When I found out that Witney would be my partner, I was just over the moon.”
Feeling safe at the door
The first impression made Robert feel “safe.”
“When the door opened and Witney was standing there, I felt really protected,” he shared his honest sentiment. It was an amazing bonding moment!
Motherly care
“I couldn’t stop hugging them,” Witney said with a laugh.
She loved the responsibility she felt as a mother—even though Robert was so grown up, he still cared.
“I’ve seen the underwear ads!” Witney joked, referring to Robert’s nearly nude campaign for Bonds, which got everyone laughing.
Though the family found the ads funny at first, Robert said they are now very supportive.
Family support
Robert said his entire family flew 12 hours to Los Angeles—and just said, “Let’s go”—to show support after the event was announced.
“These guys are my biggest supporters,” he said proudly.
Bindi’s deep message
Bindi advised her brother, “Do it your way and have fun, because the ride goes by so fast.”
Robert understands that this experience is “the closest thing to flying,” so he’s going to make every moment count.
DWTS Awaits
DWTS Season 34 premieres September 16 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m.
CT on ABC, and will be available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu the next day.
