A Raw Look at Reality

While fame often involves the appearance of a wonderful life, reality can sometimes be dramatically different. At least that is the case with one of the UK’s most popular families, who are featured in a new Sky documentary, Katie Price: Nothing to Hide.

The film lifts the lid on the family to provide a raw insight into their personal lives. More specifically, the film chronicles Katie Price’s children telling, via interviews, that she neglected them while she partied hard and struggled with addictions.

The Stolen Childhood

Being under the constant media glare is never easy, but for Katie Price’s two children, Junior and Princess, it was only a small part of the challenge.

The documentary reveals that instead of enjoying their youthfulness, the siblings had to deal with circumstances that typically affect adults.

Such a reality was determined by Katie’s severe addictions and partying lifestyle, which made her fail in her maternal duties.

A Terrifying Discovery

One of the most harrowing excerpts from the film concerns Junior’s early memories. He recounts the night when he realized that his mother was no longer the same. While he slept in bed, strange noises woke him up.

Junior looked in the hallway and saw his mother’s silhouette. However, as she came closer, he could see that her pupils were unusually dilated. The child was petrified to realize that his mother had crossed the threshold of drug addiction and lost control over her senses and mind.

Kitchen Woes

When one’s parent is out of control, the responsibility for the family’s well-being falls on the other. Junior opened up about the moment when the truth hit him, but he also mentioned that he could not leave his sister and mother to fend for themselves.

Junior recalled with palpitation that he would have to microwave whatever he could find in the kitchen so that he and his sister would have something to eat. This way, he could provide at least some food for the family when his mother was either out of the house or incapacitated due to drugs.

The Smell of Comfort

When it came to Princess, she struggled with terrible loneliness and emotional distress throughout her childhood. Surprisingly, she coped with these troubles by trying to smell her mother’s presence.

She tearfully recalled that she would spray her mother’s perfume on a blanket and lay there hugging it, imagining that she was at home with her mom.

Looking for Help

Junior realized that being with his mother was not an option anymore. He remembers with a mixture of fear and pain that, when he was about 14, he left home and went to his father, pop singer Peter Andre.

Junior mentioned that he has never regretted this decision because, for the first time in his life, he was in a happy home with his father.

The Feeling of Rejection

Junior confessed that during his adolescence, the darkest thoughts tormented him. He wondered whether his mother was not worthy of loving children and whether she would ever overcome her addictions.

Above all, he was consumed by self-blame and the feeling of failure that, apparently, she did not love her children.

An Unwavering Devotion

Despite the troubles with his mother, Junior always stood by her. It was hard for him to believe that the woman who evoked so much love and devotion in her children couldn’t change her lifestyle.

Junior mentions that his deepest desire was to show his mother, with his sister’s support, that she would never be alone, regardless of what she did to them.

Things Finally Changed

Junior and Princess’s attempts to bring their mother to reason, however, were in vain for a long time. Eventually, Katie Price decided on her own to give up drugs and return to the basics of life.

As the documentary reveals, the famous glamour model was ready to do whatever was necessary to become a mother to her children again.

A New Dawn

These days, things have changed dramatically for the better. The family members are now on good terms and have even forgiven Katie for her past sins.

Junior mentions that he and his sister love their mother and feel happy for what she did for them. Junior also adds that they are committed to helping her so that she can continue to be their mother for as long as possible. After all, she is still crazy, but they have learned to love her this way.
